Material composition of wet paper-based friction plate
Wet paper-based friction plate is also a kind of polymer composite material made of fiber reinforced material, organic binder and friction property regulator through specific production process. Its embryo body usually uses raw paper, so it is called "paper base".
1) Fiber reinforced materials
Wet paper-based friction plate fiber reinforced materials include glass fiber, aramid fiber, carbon fiber and other materials. Glass fiber is wear-resistant and cost-effective, and is mostly used in wet paper-based friction sheets for after-sales service market. Aramid fiber is resistant to high temperature, wear-resistant, efficient and stable in torsion transmission. Carbon fiber is a fibrous material formed by high temperature heating of organic fiber or low molecular hydrocarbon gas raw materials. It has high carbon content and many advantages, but the production process is complicated and the cost is high. The wear performance of wet paper-based friction sheet, with the different composition and content of reinforcing fiber, the wet paper-based friction plate of light-duty automobile usually uses a single fiber, while the wet paper-based friction plate of high-speed heavy-duty automobile or construction machinery usually uses composite fiber.
2) Binder
Wet paper-based friction plate adhesives are divided into two types, one is a polymer material that firmly bonds the paper-based material and the substrate together to prevent the wet paper-based friction plate from cracking and falling off during use and ensure its normal operation. The adhesive requires a larger contact area when bonding, to ensure the integrity of the bond, while the need to have a strong heat resistance and excellent wetting force, adsorption strength. Another binder is a polymer material that closely connects various fibers and friction modifiers in the paper-based material through self-curing to form a network structure. The adhesive should not only ensure a certain strength, so that the wet paper-based friction plate can withstand sufficient pressure, but also to ensure a certain degree of elasticity, to avoid the wet paper-based friction plate and the pair steel plate when combined with rigid contact.
3) Friction performance regulator
The main function of the friction performance regulator is to adjust the paper-based friction plate in many aspects, improve the manufacturing process performance and product quality, so that it can better meet the transmission function requirements under various working conditions. The type, composition, particle shape and size of the friction modifier have a significant impact on the performance of the paper-based friction plate. Since the performance improvement obtained by adding a single friction performance modifier is relatively small, in order to obtain good comprehensive performance, a variety of friction performance modifiers are usually mixed and used.
